It’s wedding season, which means it’s the perfect time to select fresh-cut flowers for your event. June is National Rose Month, and these beautiful wedding flowers are in peak bloom this time of year. Roses have long been a wedding favorite, after all, they are the universal symbol of love.
This year’s wedding color trends are periwinkle and pastel blues, influenced by Pantone’s color of the year choice, “Very Peri.” Thankfully, roses come in a variety of colors, so you have a whole array to choose from, for your decor. Whether you’re having a rustic wedding or a chic-modern theme, there are wedding flowers to suit every style.
Types of Roses for Your Wedding Flowers
Typically, when we think of roses, we imagine the classic deep red long-stem rose in a luscious bouquet. But there are several types of roses:
❖Standard Roses: Also known as long-stemmed roses, their bloom size is determined by the length of their stems. They are very dramatic in appearance and are available in a wide variety of colors.
❖Garden Roses: These hybrid roses have ruffled petals that circle the bud, creating a round centered bloom. They are prized for their heavenly aromas and large, full size. This is a great option for a classic or vintage style wedding.
❖Spray Roses: Spray roses are smaller than most modern roses, but the main difference is spray roses have clusters of flowers per stem, giving them a wilder, garden-inspired appearance. Spray roses are beautiful combined with other flowers such as hydrangeas and peonies.
Which Color Should You Choose?
Each rose color has its own meaning associated with it:
❖If you’re wanting to keep up with this year’s color trend, purple roses are the color of enchantment. Blue roses symbolize mystery and uniqueness.
❖White roses symbolize purity and youthfulness.
❖Pink roses symbolize elegance, gratitude, and grace.
❖Yellow roses stand for joy and cheerfulness.
❖Or opt for the color of love itself, with red roses symbolizing passion and romance.
There is such a wide variety of colors available, you can personalize your wedding to express your personality, your style and provide a unique experience to your guests.
Other Types of Wedding Flowers
If you want a more diverse arrangement or are looking for something other than roses, orchids, lilies, daisies, and peonies are also in season.
Flowers are the signature design element of weddings, they set the tone for the whole event. Whether it’s set in a special venue such as a museum, winery, or even a flower shop, or there is special seating (banquet tables, sweetheart table, or lounge area) the floral arrangements are the keynotes of the décor.
