Their presence enhances the physical environment while creating a sense of connection and togetherness. This sense of togetherness results in communities that come together to engage in meaningful activities and share life’s celebrations. Even the simple act of appreciating and nurturing flowers creates a connection in communities.
Here at Edgewood Flowers, we are proud to be involved in the tight-knit SODO community in Orlando. We frequently donate flowers to events coordinated by other businesses within the SODO community. We select events to which we donate based on the need they have and the availability we have. We recently donated flowers for the SODO business networking mixer in May and the SODO District Business Lunch & Learn at Delaney Tavern in August. In October, we will be doing a Petal It Forward event. We are also proud to offer 10% discounts on all arrangements to our first responders and military members, veterans, and reservists.
You don’t have to be a business to positively contribute to a community. A few options you have as an individual to foster community are creating or participating in garden clubs and events, public gardens, community beautification projects, memorial gardens, cultural celebrations, and flower exchange programs. Each of these options provides opportunities for knowledge and resource sharing, collaboration, and strengthening the sense of belonging in the community. They also instill a sense of pride and ownership among residents by promoting teamwork and a shared commitment to improving the community.
We are always looking for different ways we can help the community. Something that you can do to help us support the community is recycle your vases. Many people have a collection of vases gathering dust in their cabinets or under their sink. We collect these vases, as well as baskets and other containers, as another way to support the community alongside donating flowers to specific events or organizations.
We have belonged to the SODO community since before we took over this flower shop. The shop originally opened in 1994, and the current family has owned the shop and been part of the community since 2014. We love to help it grow and prosper as new business develops in this group. Our family shop's mission is to put forth the highest quality and to deliver that quality with our personal touch. We want to better the community and watch it grow with a little touch of beauty.
