Flowers are a Language We All Understand

Flowers are a Language We All Understand

Flowers have spoken a language of their own for hundreds of years. When we didn’t have the words, we used flowers to show our love and appreciation for others. Individual flowers, often casually plucked, were given to cheer people up or show appreciation for a person or their action. Artfully arranged bouquets were for accentuating the love and appreciation present in long term relationships. As more flowers became available in more areas, different varieties began to represent different feelings. The study of the language of flowers is called floriography and is very much alive today. This month we want to highlight a few of our bouquets that can have meaning beyond a pretty gift.

If you’re looking for a heartwarming way to express your love, consider Dreaming in Pastels. Gentleness and devotion are represented by pink roses and lavender.

For the sweet and affectionate, consider the Sweet Perfection bouquet that combines the classic “I Love You” red rose with carnations to create a loving embrace set in a classic clear vase.

For the newer couples looking for something flirty and romantic, check out the combination of roses perfect for Valentine’s Day in Sparks Fly.

While it’s not yet spring, our Spring Waltz will waltz you into someone’s affections with white roses for hope and lavender for devotion.

Take advantage of Valentine’s Day as an opportunity to use flowers to communicate your feelings towards a loved one without having to say anything at all. Looking for something to show admiration for someone’s courage and wisdom rather than love? Look for bouquets featuring the flower of the month, the iris, or request an arrangement customized to your needs.
