Father's Day is designated on every third Sunday of June every year. However, even though it is an annual ritual, it is still a holiday that is easily forgotten. Maybe it's because they don't throw a fit, or they are bad gift receivers so they never get anything, or there are simply more "mothers" than there are "fathers".
This year was a special case, with everything that happened in Orlando (#OrlandoLove), Father's Day was just cast to the side for the little spotlight they had was stolen. No matter what the reason, to all the fathers that are or were present , please know we do love you and you are not forgotten. We love your silent dedication. We appreciate the nonchalant encouragement. We look up to you and strive to follow in your footstep. Thank you for everything you have taught us and giving us more than we deserve.
For us at Edgewood Flowers. we all lost our fathers a couple of years ago. Sickness ailed their bodies because they worked too hard and neglected themselves in order to provide for us. For years, tears flown automatically when the words "father", "dad", or "parent" were said. Now, grief doesn't overtake our mind at the sound of their names and they live within our hearts. Times like Father's Day remind us to never forget and to keep talking about them.
