Breast Cancer Awareness Month: How Can You Help?

Breast Cancer Awareness Month: How Can You Help?

October is well known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but did you know that, on average, every two minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer? There are over 3.8 million breast cancer survivors in the United States alone and the World Health Organization lists breast cancer as the most common cancer among women worldwide. Breast cancer claims the lives of hundreds of thousands of women each year and affects countries at all levels of modernization. This reality has a major impact on individuals around the world, and Edgewood Flowers wants to do what we can to support those affected by breast cancer.

The best way we can support those affected by breast cancer is by doing what we do best – creating floral arrangements to brighten people’s days. Brightly colored flowers, particularly those that mimic the sun’s warm colors, are great mood boosters, but flowers are more than just a visual experience. We use all our senses when engaging with flowers for an immersive and uplifting result. If you’re looking for a brightly colored flower to decrease a little bit of the depression, anxiety, fatigue, and agitation that comes along with serious medical diagnoses, the marigold is the flower for October that symbolizes power, strength, and light. This usually yellow and orange flower can provide the pop of color needed to boost the mood.

Looking for something more traditionally linked to Breast Cancer Awareness Month? We will be featuring multiple pink arrangements throughout the month, including our personal favorite, the Pink Gerbera Daisy. A portion of all proceeds from the sales of these arrangements will be donated to the Breast Cancer Foundation. For more information, click our Shop link. Additionally, some evidence has been linked between Cancer and asbestos. The development of Breast Cancer has been more prevalent among women who tested positive for asbestos. For more information, visit The Mesothelioma Center.
